Tomorrow is the start of October! Time for pumpkin spice and autumn themed decorations. As well as cooler weather and two major holidays.
However besides the major, well known holidays in October the month is also filled with many observance days and month long awareness observances.
It seems like every month these days are packed with not only major holidays but fun observance and awareness days. Such as National Pepperoni Pizza Day in September!
So to close out our blog for the month of September we thought we would list the major holidays plus some of the best observance days and month long awareness events for October. Because why not! 🙂
Major October Holidays
Let’s start off with the two major holidays first. Columbus Day is October 12th this year. It celebrates Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas.
Recently there has been some backlash about the holiday, with some states replacing it with Indigenous Peoples’ Day instead. It is a Federal holiday.
A fun holiday, Halloween is always on October 31st. It is when everyone can dress up in spooky costumes and kids can get lots of candy trick or treating.
Halloween is not a Federal holiday. Some neighborhoods go all out with lit up outdoor decorations and scary displays. Many theme parks and events go on around Orlando celebrating Halloween!
Fun daily observance days
October 1st is International Coffee Day! I think most of us really need a coffee or two each day! I myself love Dunkin Doughnuts coffee, but to each their own. 🙂
October 4th is National Taco Day! I bet you did not even know we had a national taco day. That just goes to show how popular and delicious tacos are. Be sure to eat a few that day and be counted!
On a more serious note, October 5th is World Teacher’s Day. A day to say thank you to all the hard working teachers around the world. They work so hard to teach our kids; we thank you all!
On October 14th is National Dessert Day! That’s a day I can really get behind! We all love the many different kinds of desserts you can find worldwide. Make sure to eat your favorite that day! 🙂
Yes, October 29th is National Cat Day. I think we all love our fluffy, cute kitty kat friends! We are a pet friendly cleaning company so we will be sure to treat our cats extra special that day. 🙂
Month-Long Observances
Finally the full month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is an International campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Such as early detection through screenings, honoring survivors and raising funds for research and patient support of breast cancer.
In fact our cleaning uniforms feature pink breast cancer ribbons on the back! Find out more at the National Breast Cancer Foundation website.
We hope you enjoyed these fun and informative October Holidays, Awareness And Observance Days! Covenant Cleaning Services hopes you have a great October! 🙂
