With all this heat you want to keep cleaning chores quick and simple. So today we thought we would give you some cool cleaning tips on the many ways and areas to clean using a cordless, or hand held vacuum.
Most people have a small rechargeable hand held vacuum sitting in a corner somewhere hardly used. A lot of people think it is only for using on small spills every now and then.
But it can be used for many other cleaning jobs, taking the place of your full size vacuum, broom, duster or brush. Below are some tips on how to make cleaning quick and easy using your hand held vacuum.
Use one that has crevice and roller attachments
If your going to get a rechargeable hand vacuum, make sure it comes with at least a crevice tool and a brush or roller attachment. Those make it much more useful on many areas of your house.
The crevice tool makes it easy to suck up dust and dirt in hard to reach places, while a roller attachment pulls up pet hair and fuzz off fabrics and carpet.
There are many brands and sizes of cordless vacuums. Choose a brand name you have had luck with in the pass, or seems popular. Just make sure it comes with at least the two attachments mentioned above.
Now that you have your hand held vacuum, keep it fully charged and ready to go. Below are some creative and useful ways to use your rechargeable vacuum to get the most use out of it!
Vacuuming furniture and upholstery
Using the roller or moving brush attachment, you can easily suck up pet hair, lint and crumbs on couches, chairs, beds and more. Any furniture with an upholstery fabric will be easy to clean.
Vacuum the top, sides and seating areas to get all the dirt. You can vacuum your curtains too! Use the crevice tool to get behind and under couch cushions, under mattresses and more.
You can also use the roller attachment to suck up lint and dirt off blankets, sheets, pillow cases and clothes. They are good for small throw rugs too that are too small for full size vacuums.
Vacuum inside drawers and cabinets
If you have ever cleaned out your “junk” drawer or cleared out a cabinet, you will see lots of dust and dirt left behind. Use the fixed attachment or crevice tool to suck all that stuff out.
You can do that with drawers and cabinets in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and more. The bottom of toy chest, tool boxes, under the sink and other hard to reach places can all be vacuumed out easily.
Vacuum around plants and window ledges
If you have small potted plants sitting on shelves or window ledges they always seem to be dropping leaves and fuzz. A hand held vacuum with a narrow crevice tool can suck all that up without having to move them.
Window sills also seem to gather dead bugs and dust. A narrow attachment with a soft brush at the end will make it quick and easy to suck all that up. Use it for dusting your blinds too!
Cleaning vents, computers and electronics
A soft brush attachment on the end of your cordless vacuum works great for sucking up dust on ceiling and wall vents, ceiling fans and light fixtures. Lamps and lampshades are also good candidates.
Use it for cleaning dust off the back and under computer vents, monitors, keyboards and other electronics. Don’t forget the back and top of your TV and screens too!
Vacuum inside cars and garage
Using a hand held vacuum works great for cleaning inside your car or truck. Suck out all those food crumbs and dirt under and between your seats with the crevice tool.
Use it inside cup holders, glovebox and dash. The roller attachment is great for the floor, trunk of the car and the inside top of your vehicle. It’s amazing how much dirt you find in your car!
There are many places a hand held vacuum comes in handy in the garage too. Suck up cobwebs on the walls and ceilings. Use it to clean up dust on boxes, tools, garden equipment and more.
Vacuum plush toys and playhouses
If you have kids you know they get their toys dirty fast! A hand held vacuum is an easy way to get lint and dirt off plush toys, dolls and fabric items like throw blankets and baby crib covers.
Use it to get dirt and dust in the corners of playhouses, bottom of toy boxes, mats, spilled glitter and craft items and so many other toy related spills and explosions!
Many other uses
Besides all of the above there are many other ways to use your rechargeable vacuum to make cleaning easy. Suck up dirt and dust on your baseboards and in corners all over the house.
Use it on your stairs, especially if it is carpeted. Suck up spilled litter around your cat’s litter box. Use it to get dirt under your washer and dryer, spaces between your stove and refrigerator.
Vacuum up food particles inside the fridge, burned crumbs in the bottom of your oven, toaster and toaster oven. Suck up spilled sugar and spices on your kitchen counter.
As you can see, there are many ways to use your hand held vacuum besides cleaning up small messes on the floor. It can be a very useful tool to make cleaning jobs easy.
