Here at Covenant Cleaning Services we only use microfiber cloth rags and towels for our cleaning needs. We discovered years ago that they clean and sanitize the best.
They also are very environmentally friendly as we use them over and over again. It is wasteful to use paper towels and other paper products you throw away after one use.
Plus they simply do not clean as well as microfiber rags. We use 4 different colors of microfiber rags and use each color for a particular job in each home and office we clean.
Below is a break down of why microfiber rags and towels clean the best and how we use each of the 4 colors we use for different rooms and areas of the homes and commercial offices we clean.
Why microfiber cloth rags clean the best
Microfiber rags and towels have very fine split fibers that create a large area to trap dirt, dust, lint and even bacteria. In fact they can trap up to 98% percent of bacteria and 93% percent of viruses on surfaces using only water!
Because they clean so well you can use less cleaner on the rags and surfaces, reducing chemical use and making them more eco-friendly for the environment.
Microfiber is very soft, great for cleaning delicate surfaces, polishing glass, mirrors and stainless steel. They leave no lint or fine dust behind like paper towels do. They leave the surfaces streak-free.
Because they are soft microfiber rags are gentle on the surfaces they are cleaning. So you don’t have to worry about your tables or delicate items being scratched or worn dull. Plus they are Hypoallergenic!
You can wash microfiber rags and towels hundreds of times, letting you use them over and over, unlike paper towels and cotton cloths. Here at Covenant Cleaning Services we use a commercial washer to wash all our microfiber rags by each color to keep them separate.
We also use only microfiber mops for the floors too! Below I break down what color microfiber rags we use for each area of the house and office and why.
Blue microfiber rags for the bathrooms
We use blue colored microfiber rags for all bathrooms and only bathrooms. Two rags for each individual bathroom in fact. We use one to wipe down and clean the bathroom sinks, vanity tops, cabinets and other surfaces. Also to polish the mirrors.
The other rag is used exclusively for the toilets. We spray a disinfectant cleaner all over the outside, top and under the seats and so on. Blue toilet bowl cleaner goes into the bowl.
A toilet brush is used to clean the inside of the bowl. Then the microfiber rag is used to clean all over the outside, rim, back and down the sides, including the very bottom. Each bathroom gets two clean blue rags used on it.
We carry bags to put the used microfiber rags into so they don’t come into contact with the clean rags or anything else. All blue rags get washed together well in our commercial washer. We never mix the colors in the wash.
Yellow microfiber rags for kitchens and break rooms
We use our yellow colored microfiber rags for all kitchens and commercial breakrooms. Using a germicidal cleaning spray we clean the tops of everything including the refrigerator.
Then inside all microwaves, wipe down all small appliances and coffee makers, clean the countertops and finally the sink. We also clean the tops of covered trash cans and wipe spills off walls.
For commercial breakrooms we do all the above plus wipe down the tables where the employees eat, vending machines, coffee bars and so on.
Once again all yellow microfiber rags get washed together in our commercial washer. We never mix the colors together. They all go into a dryer after also.
Green microfiber rags for windows and mirrors
We use green colored microfiber rags to clean and polish windows and mirrors. The softness of microfiber makes sure your windows and mirrors are not scratched.
Microfiber rags are lint free, insuring it leaves no dust or smudges on your windows. It also leaves them streak-free for a sparkling clean look! As always they are washed together, not mixed with other colors.
Orange microfiber rags for tables, dusting and furniture
Finally we have the orange colored microfiber rags. We use those for everything else. Wiping down tables, chairs, furniture and so on.
We use them to wipe off fingerprints on office desk and tables, wipe down printers and machines, railings and items like that. They work great for overall dusting too.
