Most of us here at Covenant Cleaning Services Orlando are pet lovers and have their own beloved furbabies. If you have recently scheduled new home or apartment cleaning services and have pets you may be wondering what to do with them while our cleaning crew cleans.
Whenever we start a new house cleaning job we offer a free walk through to learn more about your house, your cleaning needs and so on. At that time we learn what types of pets you have and how we can best work with them.
We want everyone to be safe as well as all your pets. We try hard not to scare your furbabies or leave any chemicals out they make drink or get in contact with. Below are some tips for the most common types of pets.
What to do with dogs during a house cleaning
Dogs are the most common types of pets we encounter while cleaning. They vary greatly in size and personalities. We have some that look forward to our cleaners visits and try to help out! Others are more protective of their home or shy.
Some customers take their dogs to work with them on cleaning day if they can. Others take them for a walk, go to a dog park and so on. If they have an outside fenced yard they keep them outside during the cleaning.
They also can keep them in a shut room, in a dog crate or in a garage. Many get along fine with our cleaners once they get use to them and try to help out. We love our furbabies!
What to do with cats during a residential cleaning
Cats tend to be a bit more shy and scared of strangers in the house. Most are indoor cats so they can’t be let out in a yard or taken for a walk! It is best to crate them up or shut them in a room before the cleaners get there.
Otherwise that ring at the door will make them run and hide. Of course some furbaby cats are very friendly and get along well with our cleaners. Whenever we know pets are around we take care to keep our equipment in one place on a table or otherwise out of reach of your pets.
We quickly wipe up cleaning fluids so none are left that cats or dogs may lick and get sick. Vacuums are loud and the most upsetting to pets, especially cats. We try to get that done as quickly as we can and in as a non-threatening way as possible.
Small caged pets and fish
Finally we have the other types of pets. Such as mice, hamsters, birds, snakes, lizards, fish and more. Most of these types of pets are kept in cages or tanks. Often they don’t mind or stress about our cleaners. I myself once had four ferrets!
Birds can be stressed out however. If that is the case you can put a cover over their cage to calm them down, or move them to a quieter part of the house. We take care not to upset confined pets and fish by not moving too fast around them and keeping as much distance as we can.
We will be careful not to let any cleaning fluids into the cages or tanks and always wipe up spills fast and not leave rags or trash around they may get in contact with.
