Did you know that Covenant Cleaning Services Orlando not only provides great residential and commercial cleaning services, but also provides stripping and waxing floors in the Orlando area? If not you do now! We have been waxing floors as part of our services for years.

In fact we have a dedicated team of 3-4 floor technicians that do all our floor waxing. No floor job is too big or small for us. We can do a single small bathroom or a giant church cafeteria! We can strip and wax floors for homes, apartments, offices, schools and other commercial buildings.

Below is a step by step guide to how we strip and wax floors at Covenant Cleaning Services Orlando.

1. Contact us for a free, full estimate proposal

Before we can begin any floor waxing work, we need to know how big the job will be, type of floor you have and other details. We always offer a free estimate with no hidden fees or surprise add-ons. You can ask for your free estimate by calling (407) 282-2250.

2. Determining what type of floor you have

Before we can strip and wax a floor, it is important to know what the floor surface is made of. That will determine the type of floor stripping solution we use and also the type of wax. Common floor types that are waxed include vinyl composition tile (VCT), marble, linoleum, hardwood, stone, terrazzo and more.

If you are not sure what kind of flooring you have we will be happy to take a look and let you know if it seems like a good fit for waxing. There are some types of flooring that should not be waxed. Vinyl composition tile is common and great for stripping and waxing for a clean, shiny look.

3. Clearing the floor area and protecting edges

Now that we have agreed to a proposal and determined what type of floor material you have, the work begins! Our stripping and waxing floor technician team will show up on the agreed day and time, ready to work.

Stripping wax and dirt off the floor can be a little messy, so we want to be sure to remove all furniture, throw rugs and so on from the floor area. It would be best if that was done before we arrive, but we can help with that also.

We will put down protective plastic or drop cloths on places we will walk in and out from so we don’t get any dirt or stripping solution onto other areas. Edges may also get protective plastic taped over it.

4. Stripping wax with floor wax stripping machine

Every company that does stripping and waxing floors does it a little different. Here at Covenant Cleaning Services Orlando we use a floor stripper machine with abrasive pads. Once we turn it on a controlled amount of floor stripping solution sprays out that breaks down the old wax and dirt.

The machine goes over this, scrubbing the mixture with the pads and taking off old layers of wax and dirt. We are careful not to let any fly onto the walls or surrounding areas. We do the whole area in a grid pattern so as to be sure we get it all evenly.

5. Removing the old wax and stripping solution

While one of our floor wax technicians runs the floor stripping machine, another one or two comes behind with one or two wet vacs and vacuums up the old wax, dirt and stripping solution mix. If it is a large area they may have to empty them out several times.

They will wipe down baseboards and edges, making sure all the surrounding surfaces are clean. They will take care not to step anywhere with wet shoes or boots unless it is covered with a protective layer.

6. Final mop and cleanup

Once the old mixture of wax, dirt and solution are sucked up, another team member comes along with clean water and gives the floor surface a final mop. They may go over it several times, making sure all residue is cleaned up. They will then make sure the whole floor is dried thoroughly and ready for the floor sealer.

7. Applying the floor sealer, or primer

Once the floor is dry we then apply a base coat of floor sealer, or primer using a mop. It gives the wax a good foundation to attach to and adds durability. It really helps with floor surfaces like vinyl composition tile (VCT).

It helps stop the wax from soaking into the floor, which can cause spots and discoloration. There are several different types of floor sealer. We will use what is best for your floor. It must dry, or cure fully.

8. Applying the floor wax, layer by layer

Finally we are ready to wax the floor! Using a clean mop we apply a thin coat of floor wax and let it dry thoroughly. Covenant Cleaning Services will choose the right type of wax for your floor composition.

We will apply several thin coats of floor wax, from four to as many as a dozen. It depends on the floor material, type of room and how much traffic it will have to endure. By now the floor is looking shiny and new!

9. Final clean-up

Once the wax is fully, completely dried we will check for any residue in the corners and baseboards, pick up our protective mats and cloths and make sure everything is clean. You now have a sparkling, brand new waxed floor!

That is how Covenant Cleaning Services Orlando strips and waxes floors for homes and offices. We hope you enjoyed our step by step guide on how to strip and wax floors in Orlando. Enjoy your new floor!
